Point of View

"Paolo" started 2011 with a couple events before purely focusing on his true strength in the hunter ring. He recieved good ribbons at local shows and at 'A' shows. Hennessy
15.3h, Irish Sport Horse, 1997 Chestnut Gelding
When Katie called Autumn McCullough about Hennessy in 2006, Autumn said to come ride him because “you’ll either love him or hate him” and Katie loved him! He was Katie’s first Preliminary horse and a jumping machine. It took awhile, but they clicked in dressage and placed well in many events and dressage competitions. In over two years of competitions, they never had a stop cross country and only a handful of rails (which were Katie’s fault of course). Hennessy was sold to the Bull family in 2009 and is seriously missed! He is happily continuing his career as a Novice and Training packer.

Halls Harbour
16.3h, Westphalian, 1991 Chestnut Gelding
“Webster” was purchased from Juliet Graham in 2003 and was a perfect Novice/ Training packer. He was one to make his rider work for brilliance but save you when you needed saving. In three years Katie only fell off him once, and that wasn’t for a lack of trying! He was sold to Krista Grubb in 2006 to continue being a sweetheart.

Positively Ducky
16.2h, Selle Francais/ TB, 1995 Bay Gelding
Katie's dad, Paul bought "Kevin" for $1 as a five year old after he underwent two surgeries and over a year of stall rest for an infected joint. Kevin's owners were moving to England and Paul "liked Kevin's eyes." In an attempt to save her father's life, Katie got on Kevin first and didn't give him back! Even though Kevin was only supposed to be sound enough to hack, he ended up competing successfully at Novice and to date has scored the lowest dressage score of all of Katie's horses (an 18 at Rubicon). Kevin is now retired and is doing what he was originally bought to do: hack the Virginia countryside with Paul. He remains a permanent fixture at Deerfield.

“Josh” was a sweet and forgiving first event horse. He suffered through Katie losing the privilege of riding with stirrups for a month. Unfortunately, Josh lived up to his name, and after several injuries he was given to the Woods family who enjoyed him for several years. RIP 2004

Ring The Bell
13h, Welsh Cross, 1994 Chestnut Mare
“Bell” was Katie’s first pony. Bought as a five year old, Bell was a typical chestnut mare: terrible on the ground and perfect under saddle. She took Katie from Pre-Short Stirrup to doing the Medium Ponies at A Shows to doing their first event together, where Bell made it clear she preferred stadium over cross country. After several years of being leased to other children who were learning to ride, Bell was sold to a family who continue to show her in the Show Hunters.
